Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into the body. These needles help to stimulate points along the meridians. There are 14 meridians throughout the body located on the head, arms, legs and trunk.
The meridians are like channels that allow Qi (vital energy) to flow throughout the body. If the Qi is insufficient, or the flow is interrupted, the body can become unbalanced and stiffness, tightness and/or illness may result.
Acupuncture can help remove the blockage of Qi by diffusing the lactic acid and carbon monoxide that may accumulate in the muscle tissue. This accumulation can cause stiffness and stagnation of blood. The stiffness in the tissue then creates unnecessary pressure on nerves, lymph nodes, and blood vessels. When this happens the functioning of the skeletal system, muscles and internal organs can be affected.
